Twice a year, Galigeo releases a major version of its mapping extension for BusinessObjects WebIntelligence. Galigeo for BusinessObjects G17 (“G” for Galigeo and “17” obviously for 2017) release comes with the biggest change log of its history. You are not yet a Galigeo user? Don’t worry and read this article! Galigeo for BusinessObjects G17 is part of the SAP Solution Extension (alongside with Galigeo for Lumira and Galigeo for Design Studio). These extensions are specialized in bringing mapping capabilities to the existing SAP BI solutions. The main changes in the new version concern the adoption of self-service and mapping automation to provide end users more freedom to see to the information they need. Everything has been designed so that non GIS* users can easily do some advanced GIS analysis without needing to be an expert. SA Power Networks is the operator of the South Australian electricity distribution network, delivering electricity from the high voltage transmission network connection points through a network of about 87,500 kilometers of powerlines, to about 830,000 residential and business customers throughout most of South Australia. SA Power Networks leverages Galigeo SAP BI Extensions to support several core use cases. SAPN needed a tool to help support an initial use case around visualizing their network and analyzing potential risks to ensure service continuity. In addition, they leverage Galigeo Extensions to plan network maintenance based on incidents collected in their operational systems.
General Electric Healthcare, specializes in manufacturing medical equipment such as imaging systems, surgical navigation, and monitoring and molecular diagnostics. With Galigeo For Salesforce, each rep can visualize its leads and customers on a map, and more importantly correlate other data (competition, turnovers, open tickets on equipment, etc.) related to its clients, which are mainly hospitals or private medical practices. Sales segmentation will be integrated into the process and tool. The use of Salesforce will become much easier for managers (Changing territories according to sales and market indicators, automatic calculation of potential, balancing, scenarios, automatic reassignment of accounts, …). Several hundred thousand leads and customers are currently being managed. Thanks to a geomarketing approach integrated with Salesforce, GEH significantly increases the efficiency of its sales team in a highly competitive global economic environment.
Location Intelligence definition (LI) is about making location data speak business. Precisely, it is the capacity to visually associate regular business data with its location to analytically extract value from the underlying proximity and surrounding environment relations. A mouthful that I will try to clarify by providing its operational requirements and business use-cases. (1) Business data sources: integration and content For profitable businesses purposes, Location Intelligence needs seamless data plumingand reliable content. Pluming for data access needs to be easily operational and to seamlessly integrate on top of data warehouses (BI), customer relationship management (CRM) systems and most forms of databases and IT systems, cloud or on premise. Poor integration, for example not accounting for user access rights and authorizations, results in security issues that discourage demanding users. Perseverant techies may succeed in building one-off connections and integrations, but these constitute isolated islands of success that do not lead to the adoption nor growth of Location Intelligence. Blind Veterans, a UK charity, was founded in 1915 by Sir Arthur Pearson to provide rehabilitation, training and lifelong support to those blinded in the First World War. Since then, they have helped over 15,000 ex-Service men and women who have lost their sight. Blind Veterans choose Galigeo for SAP BI ! Galigeo for SAP BI allows them see on a map how many members the charity supports in a certain area of the UK and see how many of their support staff are located with a specific radius of that area. BV will also be able map and report on data that will show how many of their beneficiaries are located outside of a certain zone related to their regional centers to ensure better and continued support. BV can map and report on the amount of donations they receive from UK regions and cities as well. They can see where in the UK they need to promote their organization in the future.
